My time is coming to an end, 31 MAR 2011 will be 30yrs 6mos 14days, man did they go fast. Spent my whole career in Army Aviation either working on them or flying some variation of a helicopter. Spent the last 26 years flying and fighting attack helicopters. Cobra's first and then the BIG DOG, AH-64A & D Apache & Apache Longbow. If you're going to go fight, take the biggest baddest dog with you! I've loved every minute of my time in the service, but it was time to give the spouse her fair share of my time. I should have done this when the kid were still around but you can't go back, hindsight is always 20/20.

To all still serving, good luck, stay safe, and remember that what you don't see is what will hurt you.

First time seeing this forum, thought I would post.

Just finished my final out friday after 20 1/2 yrs as an Army MP dog handler, last duty station was at the Pentagon as the K9 program manager. Getting ready to move back to WV here soon.

Had a deployment to Panama and one to Iraq.

Glad to meet any and all.

Spent 22 years before retiring in 2008 in Ft Campbell, Ky area. If anyones in the area, give a shout and if I'm in town during season, we'll head to the river if interested. Stay safe and thanks for those continuing the fight.

I was in the Army from 68-70. Served in Vietnam with Charlie Co 1/7 of the First Cavalry Division as an infantryman. Wounded in action five months into my tour and sent back to CONUS where I was stationed at Ft Meade with the 6th Armored Cavalry Regiment. Its hard to believe it was that long ago.

My papa talked me into enlisting in September 1982 in the SC ANG (ARTY) and stayed in Combat Arms branch until I transfered to the Army Reserves as a young officer & gentleman following graduation from University, and before entering Grad School. I stayed in the reserves until graduation then entered active duty and served in the Army for 9.6 years before a "interservice transfer" to the USN, and was sent to knife and fork school in Newport, RI, and then sent on to USMC FMF INF assignments where I enjoyed a great many years and assignments around the world and the USA, and kept at it with the US Navy and Joint Forces, and deployments, ship and shore until I retired in October 2012. Would have to say I had a very good experience working with all the Sea Services and all the joint forces commands, and saw a lot of the world- a hell of a lot more... than I would have growing up on a farm.

Now I got to stay close to the saltwater.... growing my beard...and trying to stay busy writing a book or two... Go Navy...

Best regards,

Joe Guide
