In the Marine Corps right now for 3 years and 7 months on my second deployment to Iraq coming to an end... should be home to see February. Re-enlisting as soon as my package comes back. Originally from Whitefield, Maine and stationed in Jacksonville, NC right now. Should be getting orders to Quantico, Virginia in July. Hope you all had a good holiday.

4 yrs active duty Air Force, security forces....3 tours to Iraq, and just left the service. I'm ready to start a new life with my wife, get some higher education and have a family soon. Thanks to all that serve, my heart goes out to the Marines and Army troops that are out there on the front lines. Not all Vets are the same, I'm proud of what I did, but hold ya'll high on my respect list.

Finally Retired

Postby mjlduckman » Sat Jan 12, 2008 10:02 am

I just retired after 20 in the Navy, now i'm guiding and hunting for others, but after big game is done, it's all duck hunting 5-7 days a week, it's nice to be able to hunt any day you want and avoid the crowds.

You are lucky to be at Ft. Lewis. I was there for a year and it was the best duck hunting I ever had.

I spent 10 years active duty Navy. I was a machinist mate (mechanic) on submarines for 6 years, and did a 3 year stint recruiting. got out after I had an accident aboard ship where I amputated my thumb (they put it back on thank God). I was right at time of re-enlistment and had my package in with order to Va, but I got submarine disqualed because I lost use of my thumb so I said its time to leave rather then learning another job. I had a blast while it lasted and spent tons of time at sea and visiting other countries (26 in total) and even went to the North Pole once. Got out as an MM1. I miss it every day, but luckily I fell in to another job I love just as much.

Postby briggsy » Sat Jan 26, 2008 6:11 pm

Hi all!!! I have been in the AF for 17 years....yes....it seems I am getting older!! I am a medic, (specializing in TEETH!!!) not everybody laugh at once...you only laugh until you break a tooth in half...then you think my job is cool!! I salute all my brothers and sisters in arms...for those that have served or are serving...thank you, I for one, know the sacrifice, have lived the sacrifice...and will retire in 3 years...knowing that I had a small part of our history as military men and women...I am stationed at Eglin AFB, in the panhandle of FL....which translates into NO DUCKS anywhere!!!! I am from MASS and have posted there several times....I remember chatting with MIKE J about FID cards....and when I move back there, we can swap hunts...I hunt in Central MASS in the timber/rives....I want to go to the coast and shoot something besides woodies and mallards/teal....again, awesome forum and I look forward to see what everyone has been up to!!
