I got a group of 6 guys that I hunt with and we have killed 9 turkeys this year. But, me and one of my roommates haven't killed one yet so I think it's our turn this weekend.

My youngest son and I each killed a bird in Georgia to get things started. His had 4 beards totaling 23 3/4 inches. We saw it last year as a Jake we are pretty sure and knew it had multiple beards as it was about 10 feet from us. Stephen has killed two more in Tennessee since then.

I just got back from a trip to Texas and Oklahoma and tagged out in both states killing 4 last Saturday in Texas and 3 Tuesday and Wednesday morning in Oklahoma. A good year so far.

Texas hunt was short and sweet. I killed two with one shot shortly after flydown as they attacked my decoy. One had 1 1/2 inch spurs. Then killed a double a few hours later to tag out.

Oklahoma was good to me also with 3 birds in about 4 hours of hunting over 2 days.

Shot this one a few days ago. I can't claim I called him in, but when I sat down in some cover looking over a few small fields, 2 started walking down a road and strait to me. This one was following and just a little bigger. He was 54 yards when I pulled the trigger.

I wish I could tell you about how I called him in, but who could pass a 9.5 inch beard walking to them?

Of course pup had to get in on the action.

Shot this one last week in CA, I was supposed to be hunting Rios, not sure what I shot, but suspect its a hybrid. Oh well on to MT merriams and an eastern.

Got all three in less than a week. All three had 9" beards. Weight ranged from 17 - 21 lbs. Spurs from 3/4" to 1 1/8". Lots and lots of fun. Off to Nebraska next week for my first Merriams hunt.
