South Dakota Merriams

Postby Super Dave 32 » Wed May 04, 2011 8:50 am

Thought I would post a picture of my Merriams from Sunday. Beautiful birds that gobbled their heads off, strutted and drummed and literally RAN to the call. I killed these two by 9:00 am the first day of our hunt. The one on the left was a 20 lb, double bearded (8" and 4") with 1 5/8" hooks. He came to the call like a jake. He ran about 500 yards from the top of a hill to the decoys. gobbling, strutting and drumming the whole way.

Gee, that area looks familiar ;-) Glad you had a good hint.

Those birds are beautiful. They sure have brilliant colors!
If you believe in the 150 pellets in the 10 inch circle, I guarantee you will miss more turkeys!!
