:hi: Hi Pete, The pic dated 4/5 had more birds in it( on that one day) than I saw in 3 weeks of pre-season scouting (2011)  . Watched and patterned one nice tom for 3 days before hunting him.Day 1>in a field with hens(6) and a satellite gobler(18-20 pounder).Day2> hens(4) +boss tom+sat.gobler IN SAME FIELD AS DAY1.Day>3 hens(2)+boss+sat.goble...SAME FIELD....roosted the birds that evening.Day 4>set -up about 100 yds.from the roost, BEFORE DAYLIGHT, w/ a hen and strutter....carried the boss out of the field at 6:40am.Bird weighed 21lbs.4 oz.,9 inch beard,1 in. spurs   .Did you hunt that field on opening day and were you also successful?? Those pics would warm the heart of any turkey hunter   !!! THANKS FOR POSTING THEM.

None just a cuddyback!LOL

I hunt with 5 decoys! A B-Mobile with real fan,and 4 hens, and they are old beat up featherflex decoys but they work! The key is using the amount of hens that you have seen tom with in past scouting trips, that way when he shows up on the scene,he thinks my tom has his girls, and his focaus is on kick my toms butt! So the hens become background images in the focus of his anger! If he shows up with hens then you have too play it differently, just accouple hens, with the new tom,(B-Mobile),now it is territory, and B-Mobile is trespassing!LOL

Troy,

I built that camp from scrap left over from construction jobs! All the doors and windows were salvaged from jobs I was replacing them with new! It is a great camp!

Hey Pete,

Are you seeing those numbers this year? The birds numbers seem half what they are this year and the hunters seem that way too. I am thinking the hard winter in 11 and the following wet spring. Any luck yet?

I am tagged out already! I think it is a good year for birds, alot of big birds out there, and last years poults survived really well thru the winter!

I had two toms come buy on video,I will post it for you!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kj3QLYsirM

I am hunting in Shoreham in the morning taking a friend out for her first bird, have a nice big tom lined up for her! I know he will be ready for the shotgun in the morning,he is running with 5 hens and 3 Jakes, but keeps the jakes out about 60 yards, does not let them come close to the hens,so I am sticking B-Mobile right out in the field ,(in his strutt zone),with three hen decoys and we will see what happens! Think he will be on a run to whip some butt!LOL I am going to try to get it on Video!

Our season is not until May 1st! So we have like 54 days still,I am setting cams today in Ny and Vermont, and I will be driving around to the properties I hunt to scout, and photograph what I see! I am thinking this year is going to be a good year we have had mild snow cover, but we had some very low temps,so it is a crap shoot! But my opinion is we will have good numbers!

Here is what I came up with at the first spot on the farm!

http://youtu.be/DtK8igbWqYQ

Then the battery went dead on the camera! But hey I got some footage! Some good looking toms in there!A little jerky because the tripod was really stiff to move around and once I hit it with some wd40 it was sloppy! Can't win either way!

Here are a few birds from my trail cam! Nice little pasture high up on a side hill below the pines and hardwoods! Birds seem to like this little pasture!
