Nice Double!

On Friday I was setting up a blind for Saturday morning. Making sure the chair I brought was high enough to shoot out of the windows comfortably and had just zipped the windows back up. Heard 2 gobbles right on top of me, unzipped a window and had 2 toms walking across the field. Just dumb luck but I'll take it.

Took my dad back to the same blind Saturday and had a tom hang up at 66 yards before he walked over a ridge and away. Wind came up so I pulled the lone hen decoy we had out and about 30 min later what we think was the same tom came walking back out into the field. Yelped once and scratched around with my a boot a little and he turned on a dime and walked right to us. Dad took him at 15yds.

Had 3 by 830 on Saturday morning. finally everything went right for once. of course the first one I missed, my father cleaned up for me and it ended up having 11" beard with 1.5" spurs. haha. oh well it was a great hunt with my dad and uncle.

Hunted hard on the opener and shot a nice mature bird that afternoon and then shot my Rocky Mountain Merriam last Monday afternoon. Took my dad out to Nebraska last weekend and he was able to double on a nice pair of Merriams. Been a good season so far.

Why do I shoot 3.5" shells for ducks and geese ? Because they don't make 4" yet
