Turkey Hunting

Postby MO Waterfowl » Thu Apr 24, 2008 9:34 pm

So I havent been Turkey Hunting for very long, only about 2 years. My question is can I use sidewalk chalk on my box call or do I have to buy the fancy stuff at Cabelas?

I was out today and found my box call had opened in my bag and lost all of its chalk.

Looked down, and saw some fine dirt/clay, so I figured what the h,,,. It worked great.

All chalk is not created equal!!! Some of it uses a wax to hold the chalk together, most notably the stuff they use on school chalkboards.....it WILL ruin the sound of your call; it did my buddy's! I believe that blue carpenters chalk will work, and is probably less expensive than the stuff from cabelas.
