Turkey Spurs

Postby Labs » Mon Nov 17, 2008 8:34 am

I know turkeys will have multiple beards, but has anyone taken a turkey with multiple spurs? We have a tom that has been hanging around my work building, and he has double spurs on one leg - ~1-1/4" and a ~1" and on the other leg, he has two nubs....first time that I have seen this, and was curious as to how common this is....

I have seen pics of it in the NWTF magazine but have never personally seen it. That would be pretty cool if you get to kill him.

I saw one in a local NWTF publication a couple years ago like that. The one side had a full sized spur on one leg with small "jake spurs" on each side of it (above and below). The other leg had a full sized spur and a jake spur above it. I wanna say it was the MD NWTF publication and it was killed in Western MD on public land, but don't quote me on that.

Heard about this, saw pics of it, but never saw it myself.

Did shot a longbeard that had black knots instead of spurs once.
