crossbow for turkey hunting

Postby frank » Thu Apr 09, 2009 7:04 pm

This will be my first year turkey hunting with a crossbow. I should say trying to hunt with a crossbow. I really dont know much about them since Ive been hunting with a shotgun all this time. does anybody have any advise for me on how to choose one and what to look for when I do go get one. I will most likely be using it for deer as well. scope or no scope???? way to many questions to write down.
thanks for the help.

I dont have any advise for the crossbow itself, but if your gonna use it for turkeys be sure to shoot an expandable broad head. Vitals on a turkey sit back a bit farther and are lower on the body. An expandable will allow you to get the vitals and possibly the hips. Rage and Grim Reaper are a good choice. Do a search on line for shot placement at different angles if you have never killed an archer turkey before.
