Shot my first Gobbler (Got pics now)!

Postby fireman17 » Tue Apr 21, 2009 5:58 am

Friday morning at 6:45am, the first day of the 3rd season. It was short and sweet. I actually was laying in back water on the edge of the field (it is great camo). Duck hunting waders came in handy! He weighed 23lbs with a 10 3/4 beard and 1 3/8 spurs. Was gonna put up pics but it says the file is to big?

Congrats Fireman! 1 3/8 spur......wow, thats a must see! Not sure how to edit your photo to make it smaller. Maybe someone has some suggestions.

congrats on the bird!

if you crop the photo a little, you might be able to upload it. just trim out some of the edges of the background.

Awesome bird, you got spoiled right off the bat....Congrats.

For future reference, or if you would like to repost the pic, get yourself a free account at www.photobucket.com and upload your pics there. Once you do, copy and paste the [IMG] code in your post here where youd like it to appear. I post tons of pics on various sites and thats what i use....Super easy.

Thats a tough decision, one you can only make yourself. Thats definitely a trophy bird you have there. I would think youll be able to match the beard again much easier than you will one with hooks like that. It just seems to me that most birds killed are fired up two year olds with spurs 3/4-1" in length. But, if your a regular in the turkey woods come turkey season, i think you can probably reach that mark again sometime. I dont think its going to be easy though. Your probably talking about a 4 year old bird there.

At the same time, that trip out west sounds like a blast...You have a very tough decision...Im curious to see how the other hunters weigh in.

Sorry im not much help. :lol3:
