Well, was definitely an eventful morning. First off, there was quite a bit of gobbling going on. After about 45 minutes, a few hens entered our field. They kind of wandered off to our left. Right after the hens left, a coyote tops the hill. I lip squeak to him, and he comes on right in. Gave it a face full of 3" #4's at 20 or so yards, and it still ran away. Maybe 60 seconds later after I took two shots at the coyote, the hens come back to the decoys. They came to about 10 yards of us, and shoved off. About an hour later, we hear a gobble. Do a little calling, and the gobbling gets louder. Louder, Louder, Louder until it is about 40 yards out. Two hens jump over the fence to our right into the field, followed by 4 jakes. And then out comes the big boy. As soon as he got into the field, he strutted his stuff. They all came to about 15 yards, and my dad let the tom have it. After the shot, all hell broke loose, and we ended up with the tom, and I took a jake at about 8 yards as he flew straight towards us after the shot! All in all, was an awesome morning. Never did find the coyote though.
