These are my first waterfowl ever! I'm totally hooked. 3rd time out in 3 weeks and finally connecting, getting birds in closer, and switched to Kent fast steel 4's in my beater 500 fixed mod.. 3 birds, 5 shells (three on one).
This Hen Mallard was my first, then the Drake (he's an old boy). To truck to eat. Back out and hit this immature Wideon at 40 yards!

Plucked, gutted, and in the fridge for a few days for my kids and I to enjoy!
Damn, I need a dog.

Now I need a gun. Went scaled quail hunting today and my ancient 500 broke on the first shot on covey of 20+ birds. Single arm action just snapped. Still worked as a single shot, but will not do as a waterfowler. Anybody have a cheap pump for sale?

Here are a couple of hunts from a couple of weeks ago. Had a really great time with a couple of buddies and my little man in the pic. 2 day total was 31. 28 widgeon and 3 gads. One of those that you remember for a while. Good luck to everyone for a good finish to the season.

Yes sir. He does it all. Retrieves my ducks and doves, points quail and pheasants when we go to Kansas. Best dog I have ever had. His only fall back is that he is a little small for the big water. When the wind gets up the waves goover his head and I have to sideline him because he would drown himself. He would never stop on his own. He has more heart than both labs I owned combined.

Agree 100%. We were jump, shooting over a rain swollen creek once and our Brit would not give up on a mallard on the other side. She tried and tried. Finally had to pull her off the bird. Brits were also great for finding birds that decided to sail into the brush.
