St Charles Duck Clubs

Postby stlouis » Tue Nov 10, 2009 9:42 am

So I'm fairly sure I'm going to go ahead and get into a club next season. Does anyone know of any websites and/or lists of clubs in St Charles County? I've found a dozen or so scouting around the internet but there doesn't seem to be a comprehensive list of clubs and/or options.

Thanks,
St Louis.

I don't think such a list exists. Best bet is to just keep asking around the web or folks in the area.

Prairie Marsh will probably have openings next year. They've been pretty reasonably priced (relatively speaking) the last couple years.

thanks all, might ask around at the DU / DW meetings and see if anyone's got some spots open, these public hunts feel more like a land rush at 4 in the morning than a relaxing hunt with some pals

Honestly depends. If you've got a decked out lodge with private lockers, heated blinds and a post-hunt massage parlor  , I could spend $3xxx, but if it's pits in a field obviously it would be less. Having said that, I don't really have a preference. I'm personally fine with having a bare-bones place. I'm really just wanting to get into a group with some good guys, some good ducks, and an enjoyable time.

i have to agree with stlouis,,,give me a pit in a flooded corn field that has some good numbers from years past and decent harvests,,,i hate the rushing around at 4,,but gotta do it at times,,

Heated blinds, decked out lodge with your own locker! For $3K LOL

3K will get you into some of the average duck clubs, they kill ducks but not as many some!

I hunt right down the street from there.

There blinds are CLOSE! Way to close i think. Club i hunt at has more ground and we have 13 blinds in 4 different lakes. But its going to cost you another 2K!

I did notice the proximity when I looked at the blind layout .... but another $2K is alot to pay to spread my wings. Send me a PM with some information about your club if you wouldn't mind. Thanks.

If you are driving down 370E and turn around at the Elm exit and head back west you will see a small sign on the side of the road that says duck/dove/goose hunts with a number on it. Its on a frontage road right by the soccer park on your right side. The guys has several flooded fields and about 30 members. He charges 2500 for the season, all decoys and blinds are set up and ready. They kill around 3000 ducks a year at his place. No lodge or anything fancy, but for the money that is about as good as it gets.

I was a little shocked by that number too, but that's what Buzz told me. Who knows what the truth is.

The only way Buzzy killed 3000 is in his dreams.
Its a good place if you want to hunt over 20 year old decoys and put up with the ya hoos.
Oh ya Buzzys always in the best spot also.

After reading the posts here, here is my question, can any one of you or anybody recommend a club and its cost without being hard line about it? as I see it "st louis" asked a simple question but from what I can see he really didn't get a answer, isn't the duck hunting community suppose help one another or is it every man for himself to heck with every one else?

there all overpriced, they are all set up for corporate folks, doctor, lawyer types, most cant call, cant shoot. You be better off just going to duck parks or local river, these clubs are only for the wealthy as i dont see how one pays $3500 and up to be in a pit or blind with folks you dont know.Or try to find a farmer that leases ground on hwy 79 for $1500-$3500 and get a few buddies to go in on it and it is your spot all season and no goofballs
