WMA hunting after 1pm??

Postby ourtlc40 » Sat Nov 12, 2005 9:38 pm

Hey guys,
Am I reading the regulations wrong??
I thought there was no hunting on WMA's after like 12 or 1pm..........is this right??
Wife, my two boys and myself drove up to the Oolagah WMA this afternoon to see what the water level, timber looked like and there was one guy towing his boat out with dekes and dog in it. Go farther down in the timber and there are at least 3 different trucks parked at different areas. My sons and I took a walk in two different spots and see guys with dekes and calling..................what the heck??

Oh ya.............this was a 4pm.

Gonna go back over my regs and see if I'm losing my mind.

I'm pretty sure it depends on which WMA you are talking about, you have to check the regs for each one. I would be careful, I was checked 9 times last year-8 times by one federal warden, and one time by a state warden. It was unbelievable.

Me and some friends went to Cobb opening day and hunted that evening. We got checked by a game warden when we got back to the truck, and he didnt say anything about it. He also had records of the last shots we took which meant he was watching us hunt the whole time. I dont assume that we were doing anything wrong, and I think if we were we would have gotten in trouble!

Found out what I thought was a WDA is not. Hunting all day long allowed in the WMA area.
The WDA area is bone dry! :(
