so how'd you guys do this morning? i hunted browns creek in the northern part of the state and baged a pair of greenwings. would have posted up a couple of pics but i already put them in the freezer for mounting.
Yesterday, which was the third day for duck season, i killed my first duck, and it was a mallard....wow, they're beautiful ducks, my parents are gonna get it mounted for me!!!
ya frazier is right. the 3rd day of duck seaosn hasnt come yet. it opened the 25th-26th, then opens back up dec 3rd.
ya, you shot that illegaly. a responsible hunter always checks season dates and bag limits. but it is obvious you are new to the hunt, so this can be a learning experiance for you.
I'll bet you wondered where everyone was!
I hunt 30-40 acres of flooded hardwoods/planted fields in Jackson county.
We shot 24 on Friday and 20 on Saturday.
Total of 6 mallards so far. The rest, mostly GW's with a few widgeon, gadwall and woodies thrown in.
good job. in one of the recent ducks unlimited magazines it showed duck numbers. gw teal were the second highest in population. i could definitly see how thats true opening morning.
No doubt. We could have shot a pile of them Friday morning for sure. Passed on numerous flocks while we had big ducks working.
I love to hunt teal. The early teal season is always a kick for me. Lucky to have a couple of locations that have been consistent over the years.
On an afternoon hunt nearly Weiner Ark, we decided to shoot nothing but drake greenwings.
had 23 of them in the blind when one of the other guides stands up and blast a drake pintail, swearing the whole time that he saw a band.
Of course it didn't, but we still have fun ragging him about it.
I wish they ate milfoil like gadwalls. I would hunt the lakes more often.
o crap, i didn't realize it was only friday and saturday, yea, i looked at the seasons but it was written weird like this November-25-26-December-3-January somethin, i'll be sure to look at that closer nxt time...are there many pintails even in Alabama
Depends on your definition of "many".
I know of places where they are not un-common, but can't really point to any spot/area in the N. Al. area where I would expect to see them daily.
I do know we didn't see any this morning! LOL
