Property question

Postby 16gaParkerGun » Tue Jul 20, 2010 6:29 am

Not sure if this is the right forum or not, but here goes.....

I am looking at purchasing a piece of land to hunt on. I am considering managing it primarily for quail. I also may plant to entice passing waterfowl. Is 66 acres enough, or should I seek a larger parcel? It is mostly pasture with hardwoods and small wood lots. 1.5 hours from a major South Atlantic Coast beach. Paved access road and I hope to add a small cabin in the future. Anyway, any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I would look for more land, especially if you want quail. I know a coveys home range can be up to 40 or so acres. I would look for a bigger parcel, and if you want waterfowl, look for a piece of land with some water on it, preferably near a large lake or refuge that they can rest on.

Its always duck season, there is just a long break from february to september.
