Hi Guys

New guy here, you folks are so inspirational. Duck hunter for 30+ years, ended up transferred to Northern Virginia, as you can guess, so regulated up here I gave it up about 5 years ago out of frustration. Did the Quantico base thing but having my mother hold my hand is not my thing. Tired of deer hunting and getting back into duck hunting. Enjoyed your posts and for the guys that hunt Ragged Island, that's where I cut my teeth, grew up in Isle of Wight County.

Mike -

Thanks for the invite, I may take you up on it one day. Ragged Island is a great place but it can be hard to hunt. Low tide mud flats and no where good to launch the boat. If you want a good shoot get into Ragged Island creek set up on the second point in where you will be facing chuckatuck creek. You will get a good mix of divers and green heads. Enjoy. Steve

Ragged Island Creek

Postby MIKE J. » Sat Dec 17, 2005 9:16 pm

Steve, AG and I hunted the First point in the creek today, 5 scoter's and 1 Bufflehead. Saw Pintails, Black and mallards, Geese and 3 swans. also had Can's in the blocks on 4 different occasions.
We launch at Bennetts Creek and run to candy Island, 20 foot John with a 115 :hammering: . Looked around Chuckatuck Creek for a ramp couldn't find one that was available 24/7. Let me know if you will be in the area during the season. Happy Holidays :salude: Mike
