I hunted Union Co. today and saw very few ducks, I left before close but the tally was two ducks and two geese. I took a cruise through the refuge and couldnt find but six ducks in the refuge. I understand just by driving thru the refuge it cant be a accurate count. They killed 125 ducks Wednesday. Thursday they killed 25, I didnt ask about Friday. The ice was pretty thick even with the warmer temps, looks like Arkansas may have some new birds. issed:
that shure dont sound like the 90 thousand ducks the southern illinoian reported or the 15,900 the said was at pryamid. Think was just a ploy to get people hunting and spending money
i also had heard about the 90000 ducks on the refuge...on saturday nights we go over to the refuge and to the hunting club next to it and watch the ducks pile into their hole becuase they don't hunt on sunday and there sure was a ton of ducks going in there right at dark. i sure didn't see any of them. we hunted the scatters friday, saturday, and sunday till close all three days and hardly saw anything. a few ducks real early, nothing at all after that. it was just terrible. it sucked. a lot of hunters and no ducks. a lot of people left really early, but we always stay till the end, you never know what can happen. the only thing we killed was time.... :help:  :hammering:
I know your talking about southren Illinois, but we were driving back from a goose hunt in northren Illinois and just south of Morris on Rt. 47 there were thousands of ducks flying back towards the Illinois river. It was friday about 1:30 in the afternoon. Wandered if anyone was having any luck in the north central region.
There is plenty of ducks around. Problem is this full moon. They've been doin there business at night. Later this week and weekend should be good. Just keep at em. You can't kill em in bed!
