Antique Fur Getter gun.

Postby intrepid » Sun Jun 19, 2011 2:35 pm

Is anyone here on the Forum familiar with a Fur Getter Gun,?
They were banned sometime around the latter part of the 1800's, and are rarely seen today.
Basically, the Fur Getter is a small 22 cal gun that you would load, stick in the ground, and leave it there.
It would automatically fire when an animal moved close to it.
Not very sporting, was it.?
I have owned one of these guns for years, but now it seems the bore has been misplaced.?
I moved recently, so have a feeling in was lost in transit, along with a few other things..

Can someone help me locate another bore, or maybe I should think about just selling it, in the event I cannot locate a bore.?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

If you could find a picture, I'm sure there's a shop that could mill you one.
