Speckled trout, redfish, and what appears to be a ladyfish. On the phone so can't tell for certain

We call them Banana fish here, but yea, they look like a bigger lady fish.

I call them a blast to catch on light tackle. They devastate topwater lure and make multiple aerial leaps and blistering drag screaming runs. They do make good bait, but are far from a trash fish at least in my eyes.

Trash fish for table fare. We also call them poor mans tarpon because some of the big ones will give you a good run and the do some cool leaps.

I hate skipjacks but the local bait stand trades them for cost off bait and fish cleaning.

I hate them too, but keep the big ones for shark bait, they don't freeze well though, too soft.

One on the bottom is probably the biggest I've ever caught inshore. Pulled a fat jack crevalle out of the same spot. I thought it was a 20" mango

How long did that one go? 20" Mangrove is an average sized fish here at the rigs....

I've never caught a mangrove inshore in Louisiana, it's always been at the rigs. shallowest I've caught them is in ~25 ft. of water.

This is my son Alden with his very first largemouth. I didn't have a scale but it probably ran about 5lb. Very proud day for me. he did everything from hook set to landing on his own.
