I was on the hunt too. I agree with everything pappy has covered. I been on quite a few guided hunting and fishing trips and this was the worst by far. I'd hunt with any of the guys that went but would not hunt with that guide. Just my 2 cents.

I went to the outhouse while you guys came back in. Jim was waiting for me and when I jumped in, I asked if he said goodbye. I should have, just to end it formally. I asked Jim to say goodbye, if that's any consolation. I had a lot on my mind, including my ex wife who was riding me about picking up the kids late at the custody exchange point and disrupting her NYE plans. She started getting ***tty with me about 10 am when I told her I was going to be late or at least may be late. When Jim said he said goodbye and it was cool if we left, I went with it. I should have went down the ramp and shook your hands. I apologize.

I'm the guy that had to explain to Shawn how to set-up layout boats in the wind, after he admitted to never having done anything like that before. He also ran the boat into the deeks as he was pulling them out. I have never set out longlines from shore before, always from the boat itself. he wanted to put the deeks into the wind with the layouts facing the wind.
And on top of that he was hunting the windy side of the lake. The layouts were eventually facing the shore with the last decoy about 20 yards from the bank.
After being retrieved from my sinking boat, He took me to join the others and I got to see his mess of a decoy spread on the windy side of the lake again. Of the 20 some deeks the farthest deek was 10 yards from the boat and half of them were in a tangled mess.
I have kids that hunt with me that would do a better job blind folded.

Needless to say it was the most frustrating day afield I ever had.

The only good part of the trip was the company I shared it with.

I only wish I had known about his miss dealings before I went.

a few words about your boy shawn. I booked a hunt for mid december. bird numbers were very low. my whole goal was to kill a can, which I never have. "oh yeah, no problem". a day before the hunt, shawn calls and says no divers on the river, we'll go to a lake in indiana, saw "good" numbers of divers on it. long story short, 3 guys killed one hooded merganzer!!!!!!!!! I know nobody can control bird numbers, but you can control your business ethics. No "hey guys, not a lot of birds around, want to reschedule? No break in the rate for the crappy hunt. 600 bucks for one hoody!!!!!! are you kidding me. I will not be using fowlplay again. i think the name says it all

It's tragically funny, not haha funny. After my experience Friday, I'm even more disappointed.
