Im going to be picking up a new shotgun in the next few weeks for my main waterfowl and turkey gun. I have been using my little brothers pump action winchester model 1200 and he wants it back. All i have is an old single shot that doesn't pattern very well. Fun little gun but not the greatest for hunting. So far i am leaning towards the Browning maxus Duck Blind Camo cause i love browning and found a steal of a deal. I went to the local shop to hold and shoulder all semi's i have found and the Maxus was the best. I dont know weather the 26" or 28" would be better. From what i read the 28" is better for waterfowl but the 26" is better for turkey. What would you personally suggest? This gun will be used for everything, Spring and fall turkey every year, and waterfowl all day every day of the season. I got a chance to hold both 26" and 28" and i think the 28" feels better to swing but im not too sure. I will also be taking this gun out for deer when the shotgun season opens up so i will be picking up a rifled choke to go with it.
I also will be getting the 3" instead of the 3.5" cause its 200 dollars cheaper at least which will go towards chokes and ammo. I have always hunted with 2 3/4" shotguns and it has always worked. just the past year or so i have been switching between 2 3/4" and 3" shells and i like both. I dont feel the need for 3.5" shells personally if its an extra 200 dollars and a little more for ammo. So 3" it is.
As far as shotgun goes, what do you think of the choice. Compared to say the SX3, where does it stand? i read there similar except that the maxus has better chokes. Why is that?
