Opening day no luck

Postby Billis » Sat Sep 24, 2011 7:10 pm

First opening day in quite a few years. I guess the excitement was too much. The ducks gave me a few good chances but missed each time. Pretty sure I was shooting behind all the time. Looking forward to the season and getting back to regular waterfowl hunting. Forgot how much fun it is.

I couldn't make it out on Saturday but was wondering if there was anything to shoot at anyway. Walking around in late September in shorts and tee with flip flops I was wondering if anything is moving? If it stays this hot we'll see the ducks heading north.

There was not big numbers moving and even fewer geese than early season opener. Hopefully the cool temps later this week will get them going.

lot's of ducks; but depending on where you are, they smarten up quick. really helps to get away from the crowds. tough on opener, when by 7:30AM, the duck aren't responding to calling, and flying above the tree tops.
