How was the north zone opener? I wasnt able to make it up due to a new job, but cant wait for our opener here in the south zone on saturday. Might have to go public due to the shortage of birds again this year, hopefully i can find some resident canadas before the weekend

We hunted Pigeon River FWA Sat & Sun and killed some woodies, but I think 98% of the birds we saw were locals. Very few birds flying.

I went to a Cub Scout outing with the grandson on the opener. :crying: It was at Potatoe Creek St. Park and I didn't even see any ducks there in the awesome looking swamps. Sunday I killed 1 greenhead because I overslept and resorted to pass shooting near a roosting pond for geese. May have been able to get a mixed limit from it if I'd have set decoys. Saw a few Mallard, Teal and Woodies. Oh well, there should be more there next weekend after the cooler weather this week.

Had someone roost bust on saturday morning and we were on the X. Didnt fire a shot! Sunday managed to scratch out a few mallards and a loner goose. Not a good opener at all!

29 groups of 3 on opening morning. PR is about 100% pass shooting. Really not my cup of tea, but it is a amily reunion type hunt we do every year.

Yes a lot of birds up there.
A case of pop or beer can get you on a lot farms or some charge $5 to $10 per person.
