Went out to a public spot that produces some awsome wood duck hunting for us and we ended the day with 2 drakes 1 young and 1 beautiful drake. We have took a total of 5 wood ducks and 2 mallards in this spot. im waiting to hit up my private spot when the big ducks get here.

Dang your putting up some good numbers. All I have shot so far is one lonely mallard. Can't wait for the weather on Wednesday

Looking good guys! I am heading out to some public land tomorrow. It will be my last for a bit. I am heading to Cali for work for a few weeks. Wish I were here for the turn in weather this week.

We've been graced this year with the numbers of birds we've been killing. This time last year we had around 20 birds and this year we are already pushing 200  It's just one of those years

They should be headed your way with this front. We killed 6 out of a flock of 8 that came in yesterday and then wiffed on a group of 4. I'd never killed one til this year mainly because I grew up hunting in Mississippi with mainly just woodies, gads, teal and mallards. Do ya'll kill any Scaup out here? I've only killed a handful of them but none here yet

We let a flock land right at the edge of our range last week and figured we'd let them swim back to the decoys before we opened up on them but they swam the other way so no luck

The divers will usually stick to the big water areas or ponds near the big water

We had a real good pond for divers when i was young. it had canvasbacks, redheads, ringneck, mallards, gadwall, wigeon, and rudy ducks but by the time i was able to shoot the pond drained bare dry and has never got water since so i just have the river

Where I hunt there is mostly divers. Goldeneye, mergansers and others. For some reason not many mallards. The green head that I told you guys about that I shot last week, it was my first green head in 2 years.

The only ducks I have left to get are a Goldeneye, and a Ruddy so I need to find a spot that has those. I should be able to get the Goldeneye on the river I'm hoping and then maybe the Ruddy next season

How far from UT are you? The damn toxic birds are everywhere up north of the GSL. I can think of 4 or 5 places off the top of my head that you could likely get a limit of them. I try not to shoot them though. They are one of the worst eating ducks to get. They are filled with mercury so can’t eat more than I think, so don’t “” me on it, ¼ oz. at a time. This means you can’t put them in bulk recipes that kill the bad flavor, like chili. Last time a talked to a fish and game officer up there about mercury ducks,(cinnamon teal, shoveler, and golden eye) he claimed it was legal to just leave them in the marsh. I don’t believe it btw, and can’t morally do that, but I also won’t eat a toxic bird. Most of them sit in the freezer until they get freezer burn and then fed to the seagulls. If you’re willing to go to UT, bag and eat the carp of water fowl, pm me and I’ll help you get into them.
Salad... it's what food eats.

I'm still looking for my first band. My brother got a banded goose with a band around its neck and foot.
