Used the tangle free when a buddy left it in my truck for a few weeks and loved it, I myself am to cheap to buy one, so I made one instead. I'll try to get some pictures of it

Just a thought, I built mine and it cost me about $15. you could do this and have it exactly the way you want it. idk you may have already bought one but its an idea.

This will be my 3rd season with two Avery marsh seats. I absolutely could not hunt again without it. If I am not in a layout boat I am on the marsh seat. I have had men that range from 390 pounds to 150 pounds use them and they have held up great. Highly recommend them.

I don't have the Tangle Free marsh seat, but I do have the stool, which has the same backrest as the marsh seat, and it broke on the first day out. I leaned back on it a bit, and the 90 degree bend just opened up and sent me over backwards. The seat is fine, but the backrest is weak. I was wondering about how strong the weld was there, and looked at it real good when I bought it, and thought it would be fine. I guess not. Not that one anyway. The retailer offered to replace the backrest, but I honestly think it's better in the blind without it. Just be sure to check out that backrest insert really good and try it out if you can first.

I built one with PVC the lower part looks like an upside down cross (sticks in the mud). The cross keeps it from sinking to deep. The upper part is slightly smaller in diameter and looks like a T. This part fits into the upside down cross. I then screwed a board to the top of the T. Drilled some holes so it's fully adjustable if needed. Works good enough. CHEAP.

I'm really interested in seeing photos of those ya'll made. I'm interested in one that isn't too heavy to pack in - I usually wade in a quarter mile or so, & at 64, I want something light. I find there are very few logs to sit on in the best hunting spots, lol, and I get tired standing up all a.m.

Here are a couple of pics of my homemade stools. I've made over 25 of these for friends, to leave up in Canada, in the boat, etc. Made my first one about 30 some odd years ago.
The entire collection of pictures is on Photobucket at:

My buddies and I use milk crates. Carry stuff in them, empty them, then sit on them.

Multitasking!!!

How exactly do you use milkcrates in the swamp? Im usually in knee deep water and the bottom is soft mud.

We use them stacked and the bottom of the crate keeps them from sinking into the marsh. We don't hunt swamps out of the boats, only marshes. Any other body of water we hunt kayak, boat, or my Higbee.

I wouldn't be caught dead in a Witch Swamp.

Sounds pretty creepy.
