duck fight height...fake water near a river???

Postby MJO21 » Fri Nov 04, 2011 9:50 am

I have access to fields that have cut corn and cut beans in them. I never see ducks here. I am thinking if I set up a plond it might be something to draw the ducks in? My question is that the fields are right next to the Missouri River within 200yds, and there are very large trees between the river and the fields .

Do most ducks that fly up or down the river fly within the river and below the tree lines?

If so even a plond would not be great because the trees are blocking the birds visual of the plond...

thoughts or ideas?

I hunt a river and have always notices that the birds fly within the river and outside the river as well. It depends on the type of duck. Seems Golden eyes like to fly lower and right on the water. Mallards seem it fly a little bit higher and will go outside the tree line. I think you could have a good spot. The ducks will see "water" and feed together and thats a bonus for them
