Anyone mounted a GoPro on a shotgun?

Postby dukhnta » Thu Nov 10, 2011 2:04 pm

Hi,
I saw a few videos on youtube from a gun-mounted GoPro camera. I'm trying to figure out what mount I can use to do this. I don't have any accessory rail, and my gun is synthetic so the suction cup won't work. Has anyone done this and if so do you have pics of the set up? Thanks

Yea, did me a home made mount. Its a piece of cheap cutting board, cut to a rectangle slightly larger than the flat mount. Drilled slot holes in each corner and used 2 11" zip ties around the stock and barrel. The "stock" side of the cutting board has a thin piece of closed cell foam, the more firm type of foam, to help keep the block in place. I used some of the mounting hardware to get the camera on the side of the gun. Only used it once, and I noticed that the camera moved when I shot. I havent had a chance to get out and try it again, so make sure you crank down real tight on the adjuster knob that holds the actual camera housing. Hopefully next time I get to try it, making sure that knob is tighter will keep the camera locked on the birds.

I bought a ram mount for my gun. It clamps around the fore end and under the rib of the barrel. They make a tripod mount for the ramping and the go pro. It's a rock solid set up.

Nice set up. That's a pretty creative idea and looks like it would work well.

Look into Mako Spear guns. They make a barrel clamp module that can run at 3, 6, 9, and 12 o'clock. All stainless hardware and you can even get a recoil reducing mount to go with it. I don't have one yet but think this looks like the ticket. Even if the clamp worn close tight enough, the inner surfaces where the screws run, could be machined down by any shop or with a band saw, grinder, file etc...

Or try these guys if you have or can put a rail on your gun.

Could you post a pic of the mount you are using on your gun, thanks.

gopro makes a picatiny rail mount there is a picatiny rail that will mount to a barrel with ribs and you can set the camera up right in front of your fore end cap so that it isn't throwing your balance off

My son bought a new1080 Go Pro lastseason but some parts mounts were left home. I have some time to play with it and figure it out.

Get the Ski Pole mount or the Handle Bar mount from GoPro. I use the Ski Pole mount and it works just fine.

I mounted a go pro on the bottom of my sx3 with the helmet mount and electrical tape. I then covered the black tape and the shiny go pro case w camo tape. Works like a charm

I think I could put a small block of plywood inside my son's old hockey helmet and screw the base of the Go Pro on to it or I am still looking at some cheap bike handle mounts for mirrrors. The roll bar mount in Canada is $49.

I got this mount from http://www.deerridgeinnovations.com don't know if they have this mount still or not but I just put the gopro mount ontop of existing mount and it worked. It works really well just mounts on upper stock nut. Try to check out ebay also.. Here's a few pics.. Image ImageImage

Hello I'd like to welcome my self. Im a huntedr from the Orleans County region of western NY. I noticed all the talk of GoPro mounts all over the internet and I think ive got the answer. I have used this many times on waterfowl hunts and the quality is by far the best. A lot of my friends have the under barrel mounts or to the side but the lack of seeing the video pointing down the barrel or the camera being in your periphial vision has led the to switch to my style. Let me know if you would be interested because we are making them NOW and looking to see if there is a intrest. Works on any gun if you don't mind applying the 3m sticky pad to your gun, don't know why you wouldn t because who doesn't want to film any hunt? the camera is still removable and the mount stays again this places the camera close to your stock so that it isn't in your immediate view while shooting, you don't even notice it. Thanks and looking for some feedback.Sorry about the poor shooting lol FOLLOW THE LINK FOR A VIDEO IN ACTION! http://youtu.be/2JcK4jZtb-o

I use the side gun mount. Works good for a little pre shot footage as well out of a layout blind.
