Salmonids... Anyone?

Postby FeatherFin » Sun Nov 27, 2011 3:58 pm

Anyone here do the Pacific Salmon gig? Im sure theres a bunch, but I dont see many seasonal reports... Anyhoo, I dont do the Turkey on Thursdays, so for the last 10 yrs I usually find a corn field filled with geese, or find a river not pumpin mud. This year the trees made an absolute mess of the fields I hunt on the coast. So I found the ONLY river on the North coast, in "shape" sorta.. to fish. The good 'ol Kilchis. Hope everyones T-day went well, and tight lines all!

Fish ON!

Nice fish!

Looks like that river is clipping pretty good. How big do they get out there?

Nope, salmon runs the same time as early goose, so the whole fall is booked up. I do go for steelheads and trout the rest of the year tho.

The river was clippin really good! It was the highest I'd ever floated that particular river.
We see Fall Chinook to 50, sometimes 60 lbs, but 20-30's are the norm. Chums get up to about 25, and so do the Coho.

Bonez, this is true, and a cast an d blast for salmon and geese in a corn field doesnt usually work out too well! Hahahaha! If you ever wanna get down in the Willamette Valley, or North Coast for Winters, lemme know!
