TOW HELP!

Postby GunDawg420 » Thu Dec 01, 2011 8:05 am

Ive gotta 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac...Im a broke as a joke college kid so I cant afford the $300 to have a tow pkg put on my truck, and for the last year I have been towing my little duck boat just off the bumper tow ball...Is there anyone out there who knows how much weight the bumper can hold on my truck? Ive looked thru the owners manual and searched online with no luck...My boat is very light and the bumper has no problem towing it, but my buddy wants me to use my truck to tow his much larger and heavier boat, but Im a little worried about putting too much weight on that bumper tow ball...Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Go to a pick and pull, get a hitch off of a Soprt-Trac or another vehicle that will cross-reference and put it on yourself....it's like 6 or 8 bolts

go to a hardware store and buy a hitch. about $100 and 30min will let you tow alot more than a bumper.

I really doubt your gonna be trying to pull something the bumper won't handle in a sport trac.
If they're dumb enough to be lured in by plastic you're really just doing them a favor.

Know your target before you pull the trigger.

Duck Hunting is ALL about the bag.

Probably true, but it's not a good habit to get into. It's safer, and more controllable to pull from a receiver, not to mention you can level the trailer the way you're supposed to.
