California Waterfowl Association is proud to award the 2011 Artemis Award to Susan Herrgesell, President of Becoming an Outdoors Woman-California (BOW). The Artemis Award was created to honor a woman's lifetime contribution to wetlands conservation, outreach and our hunting heritage.
Susan's significant lifetime contribution to our hunting heritage has spanned almost 30 years. As a former employee of California Department of Fish and Game she coordinated environmental educational programs training teachers to incorporate environmental educational concepts and activities into their existing courses of study and curriculum. Under Gov. Pete Wilson, she served as the Chair of Resources Agency Mentor Program - a program designed to at-risk youth in California. She has created outdoor experience's for more than 8000 women.
