the 1st thing i needed was a alum welder. i've used this one before and liked it. so i went out and bought one.
it's a miller derv.165 w/ 90 cfu argon tank. this is all u need to weld. the setup is simple and i like the way it welds.

first i welded a gun rack on the side. i did this because i think a box would take up too much space in my small boat.
i used:
1" alum pipe and 1"X 1/4" flat bar to make the rack
koplin gun rack holders like used on a fourwheeler or utv

koplin kit comes with hardware and bungee cords to secure the gun while riding around the swamp

close up of gun rack mount on side of boat
the alum needs to be very clean before trying to weld
the best way i found was to use a 4" sanding disk on a grinder

i used 4X2" tubing for this gussett
the stumps and cypress knees where i hunt are rough on the lower unit and even rougher on the transom
i've seen other boats with these. mine didn't come with it, but now it's got it
the transome is in good shape to be on this old of a boat so hopfully this will keep it that way for a while.

i put a battery box up front. i like to use a extention cord to plug my battery in. it makes it easy to take out and charge.

Wow...looking good. I'm looking forward to following along with this one. I wish I could weld aluminum. Nice work so far.

been busy working on the boat. welder has been humming every afternoon.
here i welded tubing right in the vertical ribs on the floor of the boat. it really stiffened the floor up a lot.

priced line X and it doesn't look good. they want $800. getting just the inside and over ther rails done at that. i might have to find another avenue. that line X sure is nice though.

They sell rhino liner kits at auto part stores ranging from 65-110$ which are roll on method. Be careful with how thick you apply it becuase you dont want to add unwanted weight. They also sell spray on Bedliner at home depot for 5$ a can. The grit isn't to aggressive but is nice added traction. I used some on my boat worked great. Hope this helps

We moved servers and when that happened we lost all of the old pictures.
