One call?

Postby clampdaddy » Sat Jul 21, 2012 12:11 pm

I need some goose call advice. I never go hunting specifically for geese but we get a lot of thick fog that gives us the opertunity to get a few every year while we are duck hunting. On any given day it could be snows, specks, cacklers, or honkers. My uncle blows an old wooden call with no markings (he thinks it is a faulks) and it seems to work well for any goose depending on how he blows it. We don't shoot enough geese to justify hanging three different calls off my lanyard so does anybody have a recommendation for a call that is voiced for a middle of the road pitch? Preferably something under $50 would be nice.

I'd wait to hear some reviews on the new Molt Gear EX3D. $50 and it comes with a short instructional. Otherwise, the BG Canada Hammer or Grounds poly super mag would be excellent choices as well. Whichever you get, take the time to learn how to tune it too and you will be ahead of %50 of the hunters out there.

Great sound, even better calling! $30 hmmm, might have to try one.

Anyone that's run one please post a report?

What call would you compare it to as to how it blows? Like a Zink?

I ran a Field Proven Raport in acrylic and poly. Sounded identical almost with the acrylic having a little more volume and crack. Great call. I bought the poly one because geese won't know the difference in material. I reccommend this call as a one call that can do everything. Well worth $30.

Zink PC-1 is an awesome $30 dollar call and you can usually get a DVD with the combo pack for around $40 bucks. No matter what call you get, buy Molt Gear's Bad Grammar to lear to call with it. If you pick up half of Scott's tricks, you will deffinately get more geese!
