A place to learn from others, share information and gain knowledge on duck hunting in Maryland, of the fabled Chesapeake bay.

I live about a mile away from the upper Potomac, just down from the big pool, and about a mile from a (free to me, last I looked) FFX Co. park boat landing.
Problem is, as you know, that MD opts to restrict access to the resource by folks like me by requiring me to be in the company of a licensed MD resident hunter. Yay. Sounds like leftie socialist BS to me. And a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.
Can't say I've ever seen a VA hunter on the river.
Anyway, if you like to hunt this area, and might care to meet a new shooting compadre, you know how to find me.
And please check out my swap hunt post.

I can't offer to take you out on the Potomac River because I'm not a Maryland resident, but I may be able to help you achieve that goal. A few things:
First: do some reading on the history of the Potomac border issue. It is not, as you claim, some lefty socialist BS. It dates back to the 1630s when Maryland was established as a colony by King Charles I. Karl Marx wasn't even a fetus yet...
Second: If you do some more research, you may be able to find some narrow exceptions to the issue. I don't know of any, because I don't hunt there. But I do know that when there's a law, there's usually a loophole.
Third: It's usually not a good idea to criticize the state whose residents you are asking a favor of. Maryland has a very unique type of control of an otherwise public body of water when it comes to waterfowling. Criticizing Maryland will probably not get you far with its residents. Good Luck.

I just got stationed here in MD and looking for a place/hunting partner to duck/goose hunt. Shoot me a PM and fill me in on what you had in mind.

I am new to duck hunting after a few years of pheasant and quail, but could be willing to help with the MD border issues if you are still looking.
