STA 5 entrance change

Postby tknight006 » Mon Sep 17, 2012 9:17 am

Does anybody know why they changed the gate entrance location for STA 5?

Just curious.

I'm just guessing but 5 was the hardest to find of all the STA's, so maybe this will make it easier to locate? I just wish I had a permit for 5 :-)

It does make the drive a little easier, less towns to drive through.

I'll give you a spot for a discount on that pirogue ;)

Hey now dont go giving away my spots!! LOL I paid already for my guided hunt at STA 5!!!! Paid pretty well i should say also...

I really doubt this is gonna be easier to find either.... that place is flat out in the sticks. If i was a betting man i would say it may have something to do with either parking, dyke repairs, or the movment of sugar cane from those fields surrounding it.

so whats this about a pirogue for sale?? how much??

walking in is not a garuntee but i've always had luck with it. There seem to always be a decent 30-40 percent of the spots open. You may have to wait until the afternoon draw but you will usually get in.

heck no i did PAY for an STA hunt. Believe it or not alot of guys do pay pretty big bucks for people to "guide" them on the STA's.... makes ZERO sence to me personally.

We were able to walk on to SAT 2 this past weekend. There were 9 slots open, and 20 people trying to walk-in. when you figure thats groups of 2 and 3, we were all able to get a spot. It was pretty nice.

Last Sunday STA 5 had 17 spots open and 62 guys trying to pick up permits. Luckily, I was the 3rd name called.

I had a permit on 3/4 the day before and ended up taking a guy that was there trying to pick up a permit as my guest. We waded in and limited out by 8. Talk to guys that are around. Meet a new hunting buddy and increase your chances of picking up a permit.
