In order to reflect upon the establishment and utility of the Missouri River Flood Task Force and to prepare for a possible future reinstatement of this group, the Missouri River Flood Task Force Co-chairs and Work Group Leads completed an After Action Review - a process to document our lessons learned. Members of the Work Groups participated in the review as did participants at the final MRFTF meeting. This document will inform the establishment of future task forces.
The After Action Review is available at: http://www.nwd-mr.usace.army.mil/rcc/MRFTF/lessons.html
We have successfully transferred the MRFTF website to a new location where it can be maintained in perpetuity. We are still undergoing revisions to transfer it to an archived state. Please change your book marks and links to: http://www.nwd-mr.usace.army.mil/rcc/MRFTF/default.html
On the website you will find all the information from the final MRFTF meeting at the end of May. Note that it is located on a new page accessed through the left column heading "MRFTF Meeting Notes & Presentations." This includes the presentations on agency recovery updates and Work Group transition plans, the meeting notes, activation plan for future MRFTF, and a summary document of ideas for improving flood risk preparedness and response communications. This summary document combines the ideas received via email in preparation for the May 24 meeting with the ideas generated at the meeting. I encourage you all to consider, and incorporate where possible, the ideas generated by our group.
Another document that we are currently working on is the "After Action Review" or debrief of the MRFTF effort. This document captures the feedback received during the May 24 meeting, as well as feedback collected from each Working Group. It will be archived on the website to inform any future Task Force efforts. I will email again when this is finalized and posted.
Finally, attached is a Corps press release regarding the ceremonies for the 75th anniversary of Fort Peck Dam. All are invited to attend these events June 23 and 24.
