Vermont Waterfowl Meetings

Postby yellodog1 » Tue Aug 01, 2006 5:55 pm

Vermonts Lake Champlain and Interior waterfowl zone meetings will be held this month.

The first meeting will be held August 8th in Whitehall, NY.

The second meeting will be at UVM's Billings Student Center, in Burlington, on August 9th from 7-9 pm.

Both meetings are open to the public. Usually waterfowl hunting dates are set at these meetings. Also daily limits are also set.

The State encourages all those who are interested in either conservation or hunting to attend.

60 day VT and NY Season

Postby yellodog1 » Wed Aug 02, 2006 8:02 pm

Early indications point to another 60 day duck season this year. Federal Fish and Wildlife officials are saying that Duck numbers were up in our flyway and that Vermont and New York's Lake Zones will be very much like last year. Thus preliminary indications point to a 60 day Duck Season.

The only question is, what day will it start, so I can ask for that day off.

Mass. season dates are out. It looks like their local Goose season starts on September 5th. So Vermonts local goose season opener should be the same day.

I am a bit disappointed with how long the state took to publish the syllabus it seems like they could have the meetings earlier and get the syllabus posted earlier. Or at least post the dates to the Vermont Fish and Wildlife website or Burlington free press before they actually send the syllabus out to the printer.

It makes it hard for people to get the time off, especially when the season opener is on Wednesdays in certain years.
