Try googling goose pictures. You can get large prints at a Kinkos or something and then you can trace the pictures on to your material.

OK guys so I just painted the first side. Let me tell you with the brown, black and tree bark grey for the breast... you don't need the feather stencils just my insight. The way I look at it if they notice it they just might be with in shooting range.

I dont think that I would set them out stacked up like that. Might not appear too natural. :nana:
They look great I bet they will do fine in the field.

Right... I won't put them in the field like that. Just a way to show the first three I got done...

My silhouettes were retired long ago. The difference between lugging windsocks and silhouettes far overwhelmed the economy part of the decision.

Nice bird. Thats almost exactly what the silhouettes I made look like except for the stakes.

I've made a lot of these.
What I did was trace pictures of goose silos straight out of Cabela's.
Then I took my tracings to Kinkos and blew them up a couple times to get them about 19-20 inches in length.
It said in the ad what size the silos were so scaling the drawings was somewhat simple.

Then I traced onto sheets of luan. I stacked 4-5 sheets at a time and clamped them together so I could jigsaw out 4 or 5 at a time. One sheet makes 10-11 decoys.

I used hex-head machine screws to fasten the plywood (luan) to builders stakes.
A bundle of stakes has went kind of high but it's quick and easy.
I painted thumtacks with glossy black spray paint for the eyes.
Used cheap spray paint. Brown, tan, black, and white. (flat)

The drawback: If it freezes you'll be waiting for it to thaw to get these out. They're cheap and it freezes where I set up so I'll leave them until the spring thaw. Keeps people from stealing them.

I called up a local campeign sign place in my town. I found out that one of my old buddies owns it. I told him I needed some material for decoys. He said he could probably print pictures of ducks on them and all I would have to do is cut them out. Anyone else thought of this? It might be a little easier.

Will do. I get paid here pretty quick and we're moving to a cheaper place. I'll get 1 doz, see how they work, and might buy more. I'll be getting all ducks for now.

I have been busy lately making diver silhouettes and making Y boards. So far, I have a dozen GE, six squaws and a dozen mergansers. They are made of plywood and painted with acrylics.

Good way to pass the time during the off season.
When I die I hope its in a duck blind, that, or shot in the back climbing out of a jealous mans bedroom window.

Team wrecked 'em

If the ocean was made of WHISKEY and I was a DUCK I'd swim to the bottom and get all F!@#% up!
