I don't know if its my beginner quality or what. But the few times I have has the opportunity to flock shoot I miss alot more than I hit. Like I said before though wen I get te chance to see that many birds I'm more in awe than anything.

Regardless of your level of experience, flock shooting is rarely a good thing. We don't do it intentionally. We do it as a result of sensory overload. With that many birds in your peripheral, you realize you've fired your gun as the last hull from the chamber hits the grand. It's just the natural reaction.

Looks good Cannon. When I left the farm Saturday, there was no birds on it. We got the water, but no birds. The farmer said he been running the snows off everyday. Hope this cold front pushes some birds. Bad thing about it, it's coming more from the west than the north for us. I think thats par for this time of the year. Folks north of I-40 have birds and those south are waiting for the shooting to begin to move some this way and spread them out. Forecast calls for sunny days till aleast Saturday. We will kill alot of mosquitoes & time.

You're good. The birds are so thick coming over the house this morning that they woke me up.

I'm coming down a few days early to scout around a bit. If you see me on the side of the road drooling, don't panic. That's normal for me.

Been hearing geese ever since the rain passed over last night. Was up at RB yesterday, not a whole lot of big ducks yet, and the final board was not put in. so its a bit shallow in places. Good news, everyone should get a woody limit pretty early.

75% of the ducks I saw in there last week were pintails.

I'm not sure how it floods. I didn't look at it when I was down there. I was told there was much water to float a boat on that end.

I was shocked this a.m. to see very little change in conditions. We got 2" of rain on the farm, but the number of birds around doesn't seem to have increased or diminished. The rain we got wasn't enough to flood ground that wasn't flooded already, but it was enough to help me raise the flood levels to where I want 'em in certain spots. We're still holding birds where we were yesterday morning, and the reservoirs where the birds roost don't seem to have added much population. I expected to see new birds. Didn't.

Give them time Cannon. It usually takes a day for them to raft up once they arrive. I'm seeing good numbers of new ducks in the air, and tons of snows. With one, usually comes the other.

Tis true. The other thing is that the rains we got came pretty hard and fast, and I saw quite a bit of sheet water around the place, which is just next to heaven for ducks. I have no doubts that there are quite a few birds around enjoying fresh water that wasn't here yesterday and won't be here day after tomorrow. I just expected the roosts to be holding more sleepers than they were. Either way, the conditions are better up here than they have been at anytime within the last 5 years, excepting 2010. We don't have tons of birds in the area, but given the general lack of water, we've got more than enough to get us through to that next good push of birds in mid-December.

Well there's no flooded fields over here in NWA but the birds sure are loving the big water. Beaver lake is holding some of the best preseason numbers I've seen in a long time. Lots of divers and teal mixed in on the North side of the lake and a decent amount of puddlers on the south. I'd say I saw around 1000 birds between the 3 spots I usually hunt on the lake compared to the typical 100. Cannon I'm sure lookin forward to seeing your place in person, those birds need to be thinned out a bit haha. Bagged my personal best buck this weekend so the deer stuff is packed away and the duck stuff is taking over.

Glad he didn't let you down cannon. I didn't see Hollywood this morning. Almost all mallards. Six man mallard limit a wood duck and a blue wing.
