By God, I'll take ya up on that! I've got a miter & a couple finish nailers. Dunno if my table saw still works, cause I haven't moved it in 15 years, but if I need one, ill procure one. My AC guy is supposed to finish doing his thing this week, and I intend to start wiring late this week, so hopefully I can get to the point of being ready by end of next week. I'll be hollering at ya.

That works perfect. Allegedly I'm tied up at some point during the next twelve days.

Hung can's and blue boxes today. Hope to pull wire tomorrow. Found out the hard way that blue boxes are made for 1/2" drywall, not 3/4" pine. HVAC guy: AWOL.

I'm shooting for having it ready to start on the walls by late next week, but it remains to be seen whether my AC guy pulls it off.

Cason, how many coax cables do I need to string from the satellite to the main box for DISH? I was gonna run four, just in case. I'll probably never have a tube in more than one room, but I'd rather have a cable-ready scenario in all of em than realize I've got to figure out how to retrofit it later.

Cannon, do not go with a heatpump. The air coming out the vents will feel luke warm. The place will seem cool all the time. Heat pumps are good for Florida and southern Cal. not here. There are folks that will augure this, but I do a/c for a living (fedex) and I will not have a heat pump.
Its like running your a/c all year long. the life span is half that of a reg. one. Then when the second stage comes on, you are running the a/c and the eletric heat strips too.
If you got natural gas.....great. Thats the way to go for the heating side.
Figure 1 ton of air for every 500 sq. ft.
Run hard duct work not the flex.
Put returns in all rooms if you can.
Trane is the best on the market right now. Every thing else is second best.
Make sure that there is a pan under the unit inside if you go with a split system. pipe the over flow drain from the pan to a place you can see it out side. Place a piece of black borad under the pan to quietin the unit.
Place the out side unit where it will be in the shade in the afternoons if possible.
Put it on a big concrete pad to help keep the grass and dirt from the condenser.
Put a water hose outlet close by it so you can clean the condenser in the spring and once in the middle of the summer. (just a wash down.)
Rooms with a high cieling need more air....add extra vents in them.
The pics I've seen, the place is looking good.

Arggggh! It's too late. I'm 1/2 way through installing a 5-ton heat pump, and there's a LOT of flex running through the thing. Im not terribly worried about how the thing heats. I have natural gas in my home but don't use it. When I did, my average gas bill in the winter was $250/month, on top of the electric. I use space heaters, and my electric runs me about $180, lock, stock, and barrel. It's waaaaay cheaper to heat the house with electricity, but we don't require anything over the mid-60's. heat loss is NOT a concern. On the other hand, even if I could stop it in its tracks and turn the bus around, I'd have to go with propane, and I hate our propane company.

Cooling, on the other hand, is a MAJOR concern. If the thing runs cold, ill be happy as a lark.

Air handler is inside the farm shop atop a pan. The condenser is on top of a 9' tower outside, sitting on expanded steel. Probably wont be the quietest thing in the world

Thanks for the advice, bro. I'll know to check into these things BEFORE I start next time.

The blue boxes should work for 3/4" also. They just have to be spaced out pretty far. If all else fails you can use longer screws. We had to on our remodel. I want to say that we ran two lines from our satellite location to the main tv. We also pulled one down for the tv in the kitchen. Humpback made good points about the hvac. We have a lot of flex line in ours. BTW humpback, do you know frank James? He does hvac and works for fed ex.
Here is our finished bunk room.

Cason, I know a Mark James that works out here.(HVAC also) He works out of the Collierville location. One of the better Hvac's out here. I know that he does some wing shooting. He hunts with his dad alot. I think some where over close to you. Frank may be his dad. Mark is in his early/mid 50's.(?) He's been out here @ fedex for about 18 yrs. I'll ck with him tomorrow and see. He does some deer hunting too.

Some day, I hope to have a place like yours and Cannons. Got to hit the lotto 1st.

Thank you, sir. I was hoping for a sept 1 finish, but I don't think I can get 'er done that quickly. Plumbing's done, and I've got AC now, but there's just too much little stuff to pull it all together.

Feels like it :(. Never really constructed anything before, until this little project. Thus far I'm 10,000 framing nails & 5,000 finish nails into it. I can actually say that I've pulled a trigger more times since duck season than I did during duck season. It'll be a decent spot to cool my jets when I get out of the blind, though.
