I feel ya, bro. On the other hand, until I finish getting the beans out, I'm okay with dry.

I'm sure. We finished up Monday. It full on flooding going on down here.

I'm so jealous. I need another 5 long days to clear it out. Sadly, I can't flood half the place until the beans are gone.

Thanks, bro. We're almost to the place where we can call it functional. It ain't gonna get "finished" before season opens, but we'll get it to he place where it's very useable. I'm sick of carpentry.

The big dance is just around the corner, whether I'm ready or not. So, since I couldn't cut soybeans today, I concentrated on keeping my priorities in line. Built a bunk bed, a wader hanger, and knocked out a few odds & ends.

That room looks a lot different than when I was there. Well done.

Thanks, brother. I'm getting close, but out of time. Gonna leave a few doors un-hung & a few corner in-trimmed. It'll be done enough to get us through this season, but this is clearly a 10-year project.

Right now, all I'm worried about is finishing what the weather started and ensuring that the birds have a wet spot where they can take a swim & finishing those pesky soybeans.

Looks like you've got the situation under control down there. The swarm is looking pretty healthy around your place. Go get em.

They're showing up pretty decent. As you know, flooding is a job.

Expensive too. I told my daughter I needed 1500 to flood and she gave me the same look my wife does, meaning, it's on me.

Yes to both. I'm not humane with em. Don't mind to cripple em. Just want em gone. They destroy me fields, squash my levees, consume my wheat crops, and leave no cover to hide in whilst hunting ducks. Specks cut wheat off above the surface. Snows pull it up and eat the roots. Hate em.

Field was holding 5,000 or so ducks. Then 15,000 snows decided to stop in for dinner. Had to run off the ducks to get the geese gone. Makes me mad at em.

I let the snows stay in there over night once three years ago. Never got to hunt that field again that season. They smashed the levees to ground level overnight and drained the field.

I would be mad at them too then!

Nah, that one's across the road from the compound. I just have to send a 5.56 mm through every couple of hours or so to get em motivated to keep moving. Anything more than that will back the ducks out on a more permanent basis.

I've long since given up on running off the snows. Oddly enough there is a correlation between goose numbers and duck numbers here.

I wish I could. That field doesn't have elevated roads around it. If they smash the levees, the show is over. Stayed after em till way past dark tonight. Full moon makes it too easy for em.

I wondered last year how you were able to keep the levees. Our pit levees won't last very long. I could enjoy life without them, but hand to God when the snows leave the ducks go with them.

I could see how that'd work. If I see a single snow in a field that matters, I run everything out of it. Wound up sending Oreo through them this evening, and I let him have at em for 30 minutes before I called him back in.

Outside of the obvious name for a black lab I'm gonna say Spook is my favorite.

you need one of those propane cannon that go off periodically. seems to work pretty well. At least you wouldn't have to stay up at night!!!!

I've got four or five of them cannon. We used them when we left rice standing around our pits. I hate them.
