Niobrara and Santee

Postby walter » Thu Nov 08, 2012 9:52 am

Anybody have a report on how the water level is around Niobrara and Santee? Did the marsh return after its devistation from last years floods?

Hey man I'm new to the area so really don't know how it should look, but I was just in that area on Nov 10. I would have to say that water level looked low. Marshy areas that looked as if they should hold water are dry.

Water level is still pretty low. Missouri is flowing good water, but the backwater marshes are all but dry, you could probably walk across the Niobrara. Quite a few birds pushed down last weekend with the cold front, but word has it the warm weather and south winds pushed a lot of birds back north. I will be up there this weekend for a hunt (providing my scouting report tomorrow turns out good), so hopefully a few birds hung around.
