There are tons of new birds around, I saw thousands of birds this weekend but obviously was not on the x or even near it. I got two birds a teal and a malard.

What side of the state are you on? The reports I got from a few people who hunted Saturday on the West side of the state didn't indicate that there were "tons". Maybe they didn't see the same thing you did.

Thursday morning we barely saw any ducks. Tons of swans, geese and snows flying though. Switched up to the river on Saturday and was just in the wrong spot. There were a few ducks on the river but not a lot. This is on the East Side by the way.

There are birds here for sure. It is only going to get better as it gets colder up north. 19 degrees for the high in north Canada = Migration.

Well dang, guess it's time to upgrade spots. Me and my hunting buddies had a below average weekend and weren't seeing a big increase in numbers. Glad to hear they are around though. Scouting time.

cutm jack, did you see a big change in any one day? I could only get out one day, I got a limit but it was hard earned.

My experience was identical to cutm jack. All of a sudden on Sunday....there shall be geese. Friggin everywhere and I don't think I had heard a single goose prior to that.

Same with the divers, all of sudden they are here on Sunday (not in great numbers but enough to notice). The greenheads from the last couple days seemed to have a lot of fat on them which I have always associated with migrating brids but that may just be a wive's tale.

Went out today with FlyFishing Freak and had fun and shot a few birds but they seemed just a bit skittish from getting hammered the last three days in a row....

Ya as soon as the temp dropped here and they got all the snow in Montana the birds showed up. I even saw a couple hundred specks and thousands of snows flying 10000 ft up Sun. This morning I saw a ton of northern mallards flyin to the corn. The damned goldies started to show up too, saw probably fifty today.

I played around with our new lab...we got a one year old choclate for free.....it came upon us and I could not pass....she's a sweetheart, loves the water, is calm in the blind but she doesn't like deep water, she will only go if I g with her....any tips?

Go with someone else with a good dog that can show your dog that it’s ok and no big deal. Just a thought might be worth a try.

Sunday was a hot day here on the east side for me! We had a great mixed back of mallards, widgeon, teal, gadwall, and shovelers. Ended up with a two man limit and a bonus goose. The hunt went pretty quick. We were done by 9am. I did have a mojo going, but it was cloudy and snowy. Those birds were keying on it. Saw more swans then I ever have! Lot of Snow geese, had one sneak in behind us and was about 20 yards high. I was calling some honkers from out front when I heard some wings. Yep a Snow! I did not even get a shot. Just like everyone has been saying. They have not been here, then boom!! This snow comes and they are everywhere. The teal had a ton of fat on them. I would say close to 1/2"

A friend went Sat, said it was OK hunting.
Went Sunday morning. Five hunters got 35 mallards and six geese.
Said the difference from Sat to Sunday was night and day.
Another friend said their group limited in 40 minutes on Sunday morning.

This is SE Idaho.
