My FiL runs a GoDevil that is a 9.9, I think. He got it when there was a limit on horsepower at Stillwater. It's plenty to move his gunboat, it's 16', with two or three guys and a dog. He's only used it at Stillwater where it's not too far to anywhere. Honestly, I don't know if you'd need more there.

I have a newer Go Devil LT with a Honds 9hp motor. Carburetor and prop pitch adjusted at factory for higher elevation. makes a big difference. This motor is on a 16x54 Jon boat w/ Beavertail blind. With myself, gear and dog, boat will get up on plane easily. Add another hunter or two and it will not. I run this boat at Stillwater, Mason, Washoe and any other water I can float it in. it will push through a few inches of water with decent mud bottom. This is my second Go Devil motor. Dependable and great customer service.

I run a 9HP Vanguard LT on a 14x44 Flat Bottom. With 2 guys, gear and a dog it wont win no speed awards. It does cruise and get me to my spot. I've had it in 4 inches of water and it gets through with no issue. If I had to do it all over again, I would go with a 16HP. just my 2cents.....

I did the mods and have to re-jet the carb again and adjust the timing. Then will get a video up.
