Visiting Vegas

Postby Cougar125 » Mon Nov 26, 2012 2:44 pm

Hi Nevada DHCers. In the near future I am going to be visiting the Las Vegas area via Nellis AFB and I had a couple of questions.

Is the waterfowl hunting down there any good?

I've heard swans down there have a season. Does anybody target them? They are protected here in WA

Would anybody be willing to have a tag a long? I put it that way because I am limited on the amount of weight I can take on the airlift, so I'm not sure if I'd even be able to get my gun there, let alone my gear.

I hope everybody is having a great season!

Waterfowl is pretty hard to come by around the Vegas area. Me and three active duty AF guys are stationed out here and the closest places are about 2-3 hours away. We have had pretty good success hunting the Key-Pittman area, but we are up there just about every weekend and once during week. Going to check out Ash meadows today after work, work graveyard, so will let you know how it is out here. There are ducks around here its just having transportation and waking up early and hunting all day, but whats the fun if its not hard work.

Look South, Colorado River area. Lots of rivers and big bodies of water, and the game wardens especially around laughlin area, are very helpful
Give a man a duck... Feed him for a day... Teach him to fowl hunt... Feed him for a lifetime...Teach him in your spot... Learn to hunt a different spot....

Well...with any luck our airlift won't get delayed again for maintenance and we should make this afternoons flight schedule.

Well, yesterday my airlift was completely cancelled, then again this morning. They're trying to get another plane here to take us down, but we're not holding our breath. o.O

Swans by the way do have a season, with a permit required, but the only counties they can be hunted in are Churchill, Lyon, and Pershing.

Thanks for the offers I did get, but unfortunately our flight schedule will not permit me to get out into a blind with anybody.
