Put some diver decoys out (they don't have to be ringers) and get ready to shoot. They decoy easily and are not the brightest duck out there!! A lot of times you will shoot at them and they will come right back to ya.

I have shot more ringers in the marsh over mallard decoys than i have in the open water with diver decoys.

This has been my experience too, and I have spent a lot of time hunting divers on open water.

They're dumb birds. Just throw out whatever decoys you have and you'll be set

If you want to be "correct" about it, you want the wind at your back with a pocket out front. Divers like ringnecks really dont care how their aranged as long as theres something there for them to look at.

Wind at your back; same for front but not ideal

o o o ------------------- o o o
o o o o o ----------- o o o o o
o o o o o o o --- o o o o o o o

Wind from left

o o o o o o o o o o o o o
o o o o o o o o o o o o o o
---------------------o o o o o
------------------- o o o o o
------------------o o o o o

Wind from rite

o o o o o o o o o o o o o o
o o o o o o o o o o o o o o
o o o o o----------------------
o o o o o --------------------
o o o o o--------------------

O's are decoys
