Hey guys just wondering if you use a actual call or just a whistle for calling them. Thanks

I use the Haydel Wood Duck call (WW-90 WOOD DUCK WHINE) to get them close then I use my mouth for in close.

Works pretty good especially if you already have them on the water swimming just outside gun range. It also helps if you got a couple of wood duck dekes by themselves near bye.

I have used a flextone wood duck call that sounded good.

DC Woody call is by far the easiest to use, and it does a great sitting sound, which is clutch if you're using decoys.

DC has a good woody call. I just use my 6-1 whistle and it seems to be doing the trick

When spoonies and woodies are the only ducks around you have to shoot them. Ducks are ducks :lol3:

i just made a similar post in the wood duck call section...

Yesterday was opening day here and i went with a buddy and we BOTH forgot our calls in the truck so we tried whistlin' and we probably had 75 woodies headed right at us... i dont know if this is a freak incident or if im just a duck whisperer or what but it sure as heck worked.. next week when i go im gonna try whistlin again and if it works i may make a video on it... super easy once you know what noise you want to make...

Good luck n go hunt!! yeehaww bo

We set the wood duck season record for my marsh blind during this past first split with the help of wood duck squeals (sweeeeet) on a speck call. Had just been doing much the same on a Haydel's multi whistle and killing a few each most years and can't say whether the change or coincidence accounts for the difference. Just that a speck call will do the trick if need be.
If you think I'm wrong, you might be right.

Most we've killed (4 guys) in a season is just under 200 woodies. All with the 6-1 whistle.

Agreed, its about the only call they make thats good. I'd say the gadwall and the teal too.
