RC Duck Decoy...

Postby WoodyWhiffingMG » Tue Dec 04, 2012 9:06 am

Here is what i am thinking...

I have this old RC Jet-Ski:

I want to cut the bottom off of a Duck Decoy, stick the bad boy above in there...

and this will be the result:

What do you guys think?

Genious!! I have thought about doing the same or just buying the one from Mackspw, but I could see everyone racing decoys and getting caught off guard by the birds... "First one around the pintail and back to the teal wins!"

So I'll stick with a jerk cord...
Make em hate it!!

 winner gets to eat the extra granola bar in the blind bag.

Yeah, if it gets to be too much fun it might be a distraction. I'll have to try and control my inner child.

A lot of the places I hunt don't lend well to a jerk cord, to much vegetation.

I was thinking about attaching some fishing line to it and seeing if I could catch a fish as well.

Tried that with a RC boat, if you dont get it centered right, it dont work, keeps falling over.
Love to watch um back peddel when the blind opens up

I'm with mysticwolf. I tried it and didn't like it. I went back to the jerk string.

I had a buddy make one last year. If the weight isnt perfectly distributed, you have a dud. It is top heavy and will spin like a wounded duck on the water. He spent a lot of time testing it and made it work perfect. When it gets out of range of the remote, you could be in the boat going to get it. It's definitely fun between duck shoots.

Well I've been into RC planes now for about 3 years.... I don't have a dog and I was getting tired of having to go get my ducks or loosing them because I forgot where they landed etc. So I made a heavy torque powerful not fast boat with a big treble hook hanging from a wire on the back of it. the hook sits about 1" from the water. I simply deploy the flat black painted boat and retrieve my ducks. Set the boat back in the boat or drive it between two lilly pads so it will stay, set the controller on the boat and continue hunting... been doing this for about 3 years now.... works great.

I purchased one of the ready made rc decoys a few years ago. In my first spot the current kept carrying it away when It wasn't in use. In the second it could not power its way through the grass. I gave up on it.

I like boatguy's concept. It needs torque and a way to stay put until needed.

That is awesome! I was just saying the other day that we need an RC boat with a flat bow to go out and push the ducks back to the blind... but I doubt one would have enough torque! I saw someone do it with the RC duck on youtube, but he pushed a teal back to the decoys. Doubt it would work with anything bigger.
Why do I shoot 3.5" for geese? Because they don't make a 4" yet!

did this last year with an RC boat i hacked apart .. it was on clearance from Target.

worked ok.. made wakes and ripples when needed.. propeller got caught up in the weeds a lot and would cut out and was kind of loud, unatural noise.

hell of a way to push weeks back to your blind when you don't feel like picking them..
