How long is to long to soak?

Postby holtspur » Tue Dec 04, 2012 4:27 pm

I shot some mallard last year and let it set in the fridge and soak for about 6-7 days. Will it still be good or did I let it soak for too long before freezing it??

Stick your nose in the bag and take a deep breath. If you don't gag, its fine. There is no in between, either it stinks or it smells fine.

I usually leave mine 5-6 days hanging in the wood shed when temps are freezing at night and barely above during the day or leave them in the fridge for the same amount of time during warmer temps. The difference in flavor and tenderness is amazing
When I die I hope its in a duck blind, that, or shot in the back climbing out of a jealous mans bedroom window.
