Titz - how'd you do that?? Crossing over barbed wire property lines at darkthirty? :lol3:

Sorry about your woodies - they are hard to swat!

Went out this am for a bit pre-blizzard and shot the ONLY duck I saw. Poor Gadwall drake was looking for birds as hard as I was. Plonds frozen, water around it frozen and the storm looks to take a shine off my spots.

Maybe we'll get a reprieve before the NZ ends for ducks or a great movement of Geese before it's all over!

Pretty funny story actually. My buddy and my bro bailed on me, so I figured I'd hit a walk in spot tucked away on the lake by myself. I drove out there, geared up, and hiked down to the water.

As soon as I made it to the water, I tripped and fell on a blow down and ripped that big gash in my wader boot. I stood up, took a pic and hiked back to the truck. Couldn't even put out and collect decoys with that big hole. What a week

Nice gadwall by the way, I love those ducks. I think they are very pretty, in a subtle sort of way.

At least when my broke last weekend it was only the suspenders, easy, leak free fix.

I was wonder how hunting this storm went, atleast you got the one bird you saw. Frozen ponds is bad news for me, the only creek I have access to is not duck popular a more than likly a huge waste of time for me to sit on.
If you see the ammo in my avatar on sale anywhere, please let me know, thanks.

Yep :lol3:

Thing is, we shot clays yesterday and he smoked me. Put a bird in front of him and he falls apart.

I think it's a focus issue. I asked him afterward which one he was shooting at and he said "uhh..."

Well we're done. Leaving with just the two, and happy with them.

Blew the other opportunity we had, early this morning had a pair coming from behind us. As they passed over top I lost them, thought they had gone left when they went right. I turned around in my blind, couldn't find them, and moved back around to look out the front only to see them coming down on top of me. They spotted me and boogied. :fingerhead:

Between that and my buddy's shooting I'm happy with the two going home with me.

It's been a terrible morning. After not hearing a peep all morning, we just hopped in the truck and rode over to the roost pond. Probably 150 of them, huddled up tight at 10am.

Ugh. We packed up and called it quits after a deathly quiet morning. The dang geese holed up on the roost and wouldn't budge. Hauled everything back to the trucks and got it all loaded up and here they come, low and slow right over the field.

Looked like that wingy duck was gonna drift right in!

I bailed this am and will probably bail tomorrow. I hate freezin and not seeing anything by this time in the season.

Heard geese go over the house last night. First time this year, usually denotes migrants when its after dark. The locals don't usually move after dark.

Here's the real painful thing. We hunted here Saturday and left the spread out as we knew we would be back this morning.

This morning when we arrive, we walked down to the spread to rearrange and brush off decoys and found goose tracks all around. That got the hopes up, only to be dashed by a morning devoid of waterfowl.

Got to love it.
